Russian ombudsman urges foreign countries to lift all sanctions, restrictions on Russians

MOSCOW. Sept 14 (Interfax) - Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova has called on the authorities of United Nations member states and international organizations to lift all sanctions and restrictions imposed on Russians.

"I appeal to all international bodies and the authorities of the member states to strictly comply with the resolution adopted at the 49th session of the UN Human Rights Council in March 2022 to allow people to move freely and freely trade, freely use their property, remove all restrictions which are illegally, unfoundedly and immorally imposed by sanctions," Moskalkova said in a video message to the participants of the 51st session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The imposition of sanctions "grossly violates the rights of citizens and contravenes the principles of the rule of law and the principles of democracy," Moskalkova said.

"The goals of the sanctions policy are explicitly inhumane, because they are aimed at reducing the living standards of people. The collective responsibility of the population of states without people's guilt, on the grounds of citizenship and nationality, is grossly at odds with international humanitarian law," Moskalkova added.
