EU prolongs individual sanctions on Russia

BRUSSELS. Sept 14 (Interfax) - The Council of the European Union decided on Wednesday to extend restrictive measures against Russian individuals the EU deems "responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine" for another six months, until March 15, 2023.

"The existing restrictive measures provide for travel restrictions for natural persons, the freezing of assets, and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to the listed [sanctioned] individuals and entities," the EU Council said in a communique published in Brussels.

"Sanctions will continue to apply to 1,206 individuals and 108 entities," the document said.

The EU Council noted that after February 24, 2022, as a reaction to the Russian special operation in Ukraine, "the EU massively expanded sanctions against Russia."
