Gasification in Russia relies only on domestic equipment - Gazprom Gasification
ST. PETERSBURG. Sept 14 (Interfax) - The program to expand natural gas services in Russia's regions does not depend on imported equipment, the CEO of Gazprom Gasification LLC, Sergei Gustov told reporters on Tuesday.
"Everything that is needed to implement the program to develop the system of gas supply and additional gasification is made in Russia. Polyethylene pipes, shutoff valves, gas stoves, boilers, gas detectors, meters. Moreover, we're now talking about competition in these types of goods and services," Gustov said at the St. Petersburg International Gas Forum.
For example, plants that manufacture polyethylene pipes are located next to population centers where the gasification program is being implemented, he said. This is helping to significantly accelerate the gasification of the country's regions.
"We no longer ship pipes thousands of kilometres. We make them locally and put them in the ground right there. Thanks to this the pace of gasification in 2022 is several times higher than it was in our record year of 2021," Gustov said.
Gazprom Gasification, the sole gasification operator, is a subsidiary of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz LLC.
