French embassy announces new short-term visa criteria for Russians

MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - France will continue issuing short-term visas to Russian citizens, but the conditions will be changed, the French Embassy to Russia said on Monday.

"France will continue to issue short-term visas. Nevertheless, please note that the aforesaid decision is coming into force and the conditions for obtaining a short-term visa have been changed: the visa fee has been increased from 35 euro to 80 euro for everyone; processing a visa application could take up to 45 days, and visa applicants are advised to take this period into account in their travel plans," the embassy's website stated.

This decision does not apply to long-term visas, it said.

As previously, a visa application should be filed via the portal as indicated on the website and supporting documentation submitted at a pre-booked appointment at one of the 18 VFS Global centers in Russia.
