Air Moldova to resume flights to Moscow in Oct
MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Air Moldova will be resuming flights to Moscow on October 1 after having suspended them in February of this year, the airline said in a statement.
"This decision comes as a result of countless requests from citizens of the Republic of Moldova based in Russian Federation and their decision to return home," the statement said.
"At the same time, the decision to resume flights is due to passenger's requests to use the tickets purchased during the pandemic period and after the suspension of flights in February," it said.
"These circumstances have created difficulties, faced by hundreds of passengers every day: repeated purchase of tickets at increased prices, long time spent on traveling, the inconvenience of stopover flights, especially for medical emergency cases," the statement said.
Following the start of Russia's special military operation in Ukraine, the United States, Japan, and countries of Europe suspended flights to and from Russia. Moscow introduced corresponding restrictions.
"Air Moldova as of today has all Federal Agency for Air Transport (Rosaviatsia) permissions to begin performing flights to and from Moscow. The beginning of flights to Russia by the Moldovan airline will create additional possibilities for residents of the two countries and will facilitate the development of bilateral cooperation," Rosaviatsia told journalists.
