Russia registers 52,106 new cases of Covid-19, 96 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 52,106 new cases of Covid-19, or nearly 1,500 more than the day before, and 96 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"Russia has recorded 52,106 new cases of Covid-19 and 3,621 patients have been hospitalized over the day, up 0.3% from the day before," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 45 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 38, and has remained unchanged in two, it said.

The daily morbidity has grown by 1,488 from 50,618 cases reported on Thursday.

The daily morbidity level is similar to that of March 10-12, when Russia saw over 50,000 infections per day but the morbidity curve was on decline. Now it is rising.

The number of daily hospitalizations is lower than it was in March, when the morbidity levels were similar.

The Covid-19 mortality is now much lower than in March, when more than 500-600 patients were dying from Covid-19 daily. Russia saw 96 deaths from Covid-19 over the past day, as against 93 the day before.

"Another 51,086 patients have recovered over the past day, up 1.6% from September 8," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 19,960,295 cases of Covid-19, including 385,135 deaths and 18,977,695 recoveries.
