Russian Post, Fesco to develop multimodal container shipments

MOSCOW. Sept 8 (Interfax) - Russian Post and Fesco Transportation Group, the flagship of which is the Far Eastern Shipping Company (Fesco) , have signed an agreement to develop multimodal container shipments on international and domestic routes, the postal service said.

Working with Fesco will enable Russian Post to not only deliver packages by truck, train and airplane, but also by ship in containers, the company said.

"Thanks to the partnership with Fesco Group, [Russian Post] will be able to offer clients end-to-end services using the marine leg," the company's deputy CEO, Sergei Sergushev was quoted as saying said.

Under the agreement, the companies plan to work out arrangements to accelerate deliveries of international mail with socially important goods through Russia's Far East, including on Fesco's shipping lines. They plan to use both companies' infrastructure to deliver mail and consolidated cargo.

The companies intend to establish stable and express multimodal shipping routes from South Asia, the Asia-Pacific region and the Middle East.

Fesco and Russian Post began working together in May 2022. Fesco Group provided containers for shipping automobiles on the first postal container train Rossiya, which runs between Moscow and Vladivostok. Fesco arranged for their delivery by sea from Vladivostok to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
