State Duma speaker in favor of increasing share of national currencies in settlements between BRICS countries

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - The share of national currencies in the financial settlements between BRICS countries should grow, Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said.

"We support increasing the share of national currencies in the financial arrangements between our countries. The global trade system is in need of de-dollarization," Volodin said on Tuesday at the 8th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.

This will facilitate not only "its democratization and increasing the role of developing countries, but stability, as well," he said.

BRICS countries should also "speak with one voice on many issues on the international agenda," Volodin said.

"BRICS is the economy of the future. Our association plays a significant role on the global arena already today," he said.

Volodin also spoke in favor of further strengthening trade-economic cooperation on the basis of the Strategy for BRICS Economic Partnership 2025.

"Parliamentary diplomacy should promote building a stable, multipolar world order based on the principles of fairness and equality, recognizing the right of every country to its own sovereign path of development," he said.
