Ukrgasbank receives 4 bln hryvni in annual refinancing from NBU

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - State-owned Ukrgasbank (Kyiv) on September 2 received 4 billion hryvni in annual refinancing from the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU), becoming its first recipient since the beginning of August, Ukrainian media said on Tuesday.

Ukrgasbank previously applied to the NBU for annual refinancing in the amount of 1 billion hryvni on July 22, and before that, on July 15, for 4 billion hryvni, the NBU said on its website.

Ukrgasbank, in turn, said on August 30 that it had repaid its refinancing loan of 1 billion hryvni ahead of time "thanks to the positive dynamics of attracting funds from legal entities and private individuals in August of this year."

Ukrgasbank was established in 1993 and is 94.94% owned by the Ukrainian state through the Finance Ministry.

According to NBU data, Ukrgasbank was Ukraine's fifth largest bank by total assets (139.671 billion hryvni) out of the country's 68 functioning banks as of July 1, 2022.
