Azerbaijan to supply around 10 bcm of gas to Italy in 2022 - Aliyev

BAKU. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Azerbaijan is planning to export roughly 10 billion cubic meters of gas to Italy in 2022, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said.

"We're planning to increase gas volumes this year and export around 10 bcm of gas to Italy's market," Aliyev said on Friday at the 48th Intelligence on the World, Europe, and Italy international forum in Italy's Cernobbio.

Azerbaijan supplied 6.8 bcm of gas to Italy in 2021.

Azerbaijan has exported 13.5 bcm of gas to Europe since the launch of the Southern Gas Corridor on December 31, 2020, 11.7 bcm of which has gone to Italy, Aliyev was quoted as saying in a statement on the president's website.

Azerbaijan exported 8.2 bcm of gas to Europe in 2021 and will supply 12 bcm in 2022. Exports of Azerbaijani gas are to total 24 bcm overall in 2022 compared to 22 bcm in 2021.

Azerbaijani gas is currently purchased by Italy, Greece, and Bulgaria in Europe.

Azerbaijani gas is also exported to Turkey through the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline and the South Caucasus Pipeline and to Georgia through the South Caucasus Pipeline and the Gazimagomed-Gazakh pipeline.
