UN hails Russian-provided safety of IAEA inspectors

NEW YORK, Sept 1 (Interfax) - The United Nations welcomes the Russian measures to ensure the safety of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors participating in a mission to Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant (NPP), the UN Secretary General's spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said on Thursday.

"We are glad that the Russian Federation did all to keep our inspectors safe," Dujarric said.

The UN team "will continue to support the mission until it ends," he said.

The team was only there to maintain security measures, he said.

The IAEA mission arrived at the NPP on Thursday afternoon.

A part of the delegation, including IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, have already left the site.
