IAEA experts start examining Zaporizhzhya NPP territory

ENERHODAR. Sept 1 (Interfax) - International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) experts are examining the nuclear power plant in Enerhodar in the Russia-controlled territory of the Zaporizhzhya region, and representatives of the Rosatom state corporation and journalists are accompanying the mission.

"The entire perimeter is intact. What is more, the section we have just passed has been improved and upgraded with the assistance of the Russian Federation," Renat Karchaa, a Russian expert, told the reporters during the inspection.

He drew attention of the IAEA director general to the location of modular pumping stations. "The location of these stations, the so-called MPS, modular pumping stations, outside of the secure perimeter is a violation of international norms," Karchaa said.
