IAEA mission crosses into Russia-controlled part of Zaporizhzhya region - Enerhodar head

ENERHODAR. Sept 1 (Interfax) - An International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) mission has passed through a checkpoint on the contact line and arrived in the Russia-controlled part of the Zaporizhzhya region, where it is supposed to visit the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant in Enerhodar, city administration head Alexander Volga told reporters.

"According to the latest update, they have passed through the Vasylivka checkpoint, and we are expecting them to reach Enerhodar in an hour," Volga said.

Meanwhile, the Western media said, citing IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi, that IAEA experts are ready to get down to work as soon as they arrive at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant; they will assess the possibility of IAEA permanent presence there.

In his words, the experts are ready to carry on the mission despite the substantial risks created by tensions in the NPP area.
