X5 Group appoints former Pobeda Airlines CEO Kalmykov as CEO of Perekrestok supermarket chain

MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax) - X5 Group has appointed Andrei Kalmykov as the new CEO of its Perekrestok supermarket chain, X5 Group said in a statement.

Kalmykov was formerly the CEO of Pobeda Airlines, and he was the first deputy general director of Aeroflot prior to this. Kalmykov has also worked in the Russian Transport Ministry, as well as headed the Sunrise Tour travel company.

"We believe in the successful development of the supermarket segment, and we want to strengthen Perekrestok's leadership position. I am certain that Andrei's personal qualities and professional expertise, especially his ability to create a unique client offer, will motivate the team to achieve results, and he will help us implement our strategy in the supermarket segment," X5 CEO Igor Shekhterman was quoted as saying in the statement.

Kalmykov, in turn, promised to make Perekrestok "the most efficient supermarket chain with a unique assortment and high-quality products."
