Gazprom suspends gas supplies to France over unpaid July deliveries

MOSCOW. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Gazprom has suspended gas supplies to the French company Engie due to the latter's failure to pay for July's deliveries in full.

As of the end of the August 30 business day, Gazprom Export has not received full payment for the gas supplied to Engie in July under existing contracts, Gazprom stated on Tuesday.

"Pursuant to the Russian president's decree No. 172 'On the special procedure of compliance by foreign buyers with their obligations to Russian natural gas suppliers," dated March 31, 2022, any subsequent shipment of natural gas to a foreign buyer is prohibited unless the buyer makes full payment by the contractual deadline," the statement said.

Gazprom Export has notified Engie of the full suspension from September 1, 2022, until it receives the money for the gas delivered.
