Russia registers 39,658 new cases of Covid-19, 77 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 39,658 new cases of Covid-19, or 7,199 cases fewer than on Sunday, alongside 77 deaths from Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Monday.

"Russia has recorded 39,658 new cases of Covid-19 and 1,988 patients have been admitted to hospitals, down 15% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 30 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 49, and has remained unchanged in six, it said.

The daily morbidity has decreased by 7,199 cases from 46,857 reported on Sunday. The morbidity level has been similar to that of mid-March. Back on March 14, Russia reported over 41,000 cases of Covid-19, while the morbidity curve was on decline. Now it is rising.

The number of daily hospitalizations is lower than in March despite similar morbidity levels.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 mortality is much lower than it was in March: there were 533 deaths from Covid-19 on March 14, as against 77 reported on Monday and 83 on Sunday.

"Another 24,890 patients have recovered over the day, down 11.8% from August 28," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 19,302,875 cases of Covid-19, including 383,870 deaths and 18,445,596 recoveries.
