More than 821,000 tonnes of agricultural products taken out of Ukrainian ports in Aug - Russian Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - More than 821,500 tonnes of food left Ukraine in August, Russian National Defense Control Center head Mikhail Mizintsev told a briefing on Friday.

"Thirty-nine dry cargo carriers (including 19 blocked ones) have left Ukrainian ports under the initiative on mutual understanding for safe transportation of grain from Ukrainian ports since August 1, 2022," Mizintsev said.

A total of 821,547 tonnes of food has been taken out since then, he said.

Specifically, it includes corn, sunflower oil, etc.

According to earlier reports, two documents on the creation of a corridor to take grain out of three ports on the Ukrainian territory - Chornomorsk, Odesa and Yuzhniy - were signed in Istanbul on July 22 with the participation of the United Nations, Russia, Turkey and Ukraine. The first vessel carrying 26,000 tonnes of corn left Odesa on August 1.
