Japanese ambassador passes Emperor Naruhito's letter for Zelensky

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Andriy Sybiha, deputy head of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's Office and the president's diplomatic advisor, met with Japanese Ambassador to Ukraine Matsuda Kuninori, who passed a letter from Emperor of Japan Naruhito for Zelensky on the occasion of Ukraine Independence Day.

"I was genuinely glad to welcome today a true friend of Ukraine - the ambassador of Japan. I was honored to accept the letter of congratulation from Mr. Ambassador that was passed by his Majesty the Emperor of Japan Naruhito for President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the restoration of Ukraine's independence," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Sybiha as saying on social media.

The parties also discussed in detail bilateral relations and Ukraine-Japan cooperation within the United Nations.
