Ukrainian Railways plans to repair and build nearly 150 km of rail tracks in 2022

MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Ukrainian Railways (JSC Ukrzaliznytsia) plans to repair and build 149.3 kilometers of rail tracks in 2022, with a focus on EU-bound railways.

"We plan to build and repair a record amount of infrastructure - 149.3 km. Besides, 56.8 km of rail tracks will be electrified. The focus of these efforts will be on upgrading infrastructure in the direction of border crossings with countries of the European Union," Ukrainian media outlets quoted the company as saying on social media on Wednesday.

This work is being conducted at a rapid pace in conditions of martial law in the country, it said.

"Whereas previously building a bridge took months or even years, now it takes less than a month," Ukrzaliznytsia said.
