Russian govt to allocate seven bln rubles in 2022 for developing domestic ship equipment

MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - The Russian government plans to allocate seven billion rubles in 2022 for developing domestically manufactured ship equipment, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during a government meeting.

"The imposed sanctions have disrupted collaborative ties in many industries, including shipbuilding, where difficulties have arisen regarding completing sea-faring tankers, gas carriers, as well as fishing, passenger and other vessels, primarily owing to the failure on the part of partners to fulfill their obligations and the impossibility of purchasing a number of components," Mishustin said at the meeting.

"As per the instruction of the head of state, the government will allocate seven billion rubles this year for designing, developing and manufacturing the most important ship equipment. This will allow us to prepare our own schematic designs for 40 types of the equipment that should render it possible to complete construction on over 100 ships in the coming years at a total cost of over 500 billion rubles," the prime minister said.

Mishustin said that an additional 22 billion rubles would be required in order to replace imported components with domestic analogues.

"It is important to use all means as efficiently as possible. Developing each piece of equipment must necessarily be completed through mass production with further implementation. I request that the Industry Ministry maintain constant oversight of these operations," Mishustin concluded.
