Canadian prime minister announces financing of 2 Ukrainian projects

MOSCOW. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced additional assistance to Ukraine at the second summit of the Crimea Platform on Tuesday.

The Ukrainian media has reported with the reference to the Canadian prime minister's website that Trudeau declared the financing of two Ukrainian projects within the framework of the Peace and Stabilization Operations Program (PSOP) with a total value of $3.85 million.

For instance, additional support will be given to the Ukrainian security sector. This includes $2.9 million for the Canadian-Ukrainian Police Development Project implemented by Alinea International to provide the targeted support to the National Police, the Interior Ministry and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. There is also assistance to enhance the police response to sexual violence cases.

Meanwhile, $950,000 will be additionally allotted for the project Promoting Reform Objectives through Technical Expertise and Capacity Transfer, which is implemented by Alinea International with emphasis on technical consultations and support to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry.
