Gazprom assumes Moldova will honor contractual obligations in full and on time from now on
MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Gazprom works on the assumption that henceforth Moldova will honor its contractual obligations for gas in full and on time.
"According to the contract, August 22 was the deadline for payment for gas supplies to Moldova, including the final settlement for July and payment for gas supplies in August. The Moldovagaz company was able to pay only for the July deliveries and asked Gazprom to defer the payment deadline for August until September 1, 2022. As an exception, Gazprom decided to agree to this request. We work on the basis that going forward, the Moldovan side will unconditionally honor its contractual obligations in full and on time, "Gazprom spokesman Sergei Kupriyanov told the Rossiya 24 TV channel, commenting on the deferment granted to Moldova on the latest payment for gas.
The gas contract's terms and conditions stipulate that Moldovagaz must remit full payment by the 20th of each month for natural gas consumed during the previous month, and 50% of the payment for contracted gas for the current month.
Moldovagaz said on Monday that it would not be able to pay the 50% advance payment by the end of the day for the natural gas that it has received from Gazprom in August and had asked Gazprom to defer the advance.
