Gazprom agrees to wait for Moldova's advance payment for gas until Sept 1

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Gazprom has agreed to wait until September 1 for the advance payment from JSC Moldovagaz for gas supplies in August, the Russian company said in a statement.

"JSC Moldovagaz has not complied with its contractual obligations to PJSC Gazprom to remit the advance payment for gas supplies in August 2022. In this regard, Moldovagaz requested that Gazprom postpone the advance payment until September 1, 2022. Gazprom has agreed to the request under exceptional circumstances," the company said in the statement.

The gas contract's terms and conditions stipulate that Moldovagaz must remit full payment by the 20th of each for natural gas consumed during the previous month, and 50% of the payment for contracted gas for the current month.

Moldovagaz CEO Vadim Ceban earlier on Monday said that the Moldovan-Russian company would not be able to pay the 50% advance payment by the end of the day for the natural gas that it has received from Gazprom in August; therefore, Moldovagaz asked Gazprom for a deferral on the advance payment.
