Another 2 ships carrying grain leave Ukrainian ports - Turkish Defense Ministry

ISTANBUL. Aug 22 (Interfax) - Another two dry cargo ships carrying grain left Ukrainian ports on Monday as part of an international initiative to transport food products from Ukraine, the TRT World television channel reported, citing a Turkish Defense Ministry statement.

At the same time, the ministry did not specify the destinations of the ships and the kind of grain they are carrying. The Defense Ministry added that the transportation of grain is continuing as scheduled.

According to the United Nations, 27 bulk carriers carrying more than 656,000 tonnes of agricultural products, particularly corn, sunflower oil, soya, and wheat, have already left Ukraine as part of the Istanbul deal on the export of grain. Another 26 vessels arrived at Ukrainian ports to load agricultural products.

On July 22, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations signed two documents to create a corridor for grain exports from three Ukrainian seaports: Chornomorsk, Odesa and Yuzhnyi. The joint coordination center based in Istanbul is in control of the process.
