Ukraine, UK update agreement on cooperation and trade on public procurement market

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Ukraine and the United Kingdom have signed the second annex to the Agreement on Political Cooperation, Free Trade, and Strategic Partnership, which serves to facilitate mutual access to the public procurement market and regulates public procurement of medical services, Ukrainian media reported with reference to the Economy Ministry's statement on Friday.

"The update of the agreement effectively attests to active interaction between Kyiv and London in the trade and economic sectors," the statement quotes Ukrainian First Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko as saying.

Svyrydenko signed the document with UK Ambassador to Ukraine Melinda Simmons on Friday.

The agreement updates the thresholds and changes the currency set to calculate them from the euro to the Special Drawing Rights (SDR). It also streamlines the provisions concerning the mutual application of public procurement procedures with regard to the provision of medical services.

As reported earlier, Ukraine and the UK signed preliminary amendments to the cooperation agreement on May 4, 2022. The document lifts all tariffs and quotas on a mutual basis.
