Russian govt imposes quota on exporting waste paper until Dec 2022

MOSCOW. Aug 19 (Interfax) - The Russian government has imposed a quota on exporting recycled paper and cardboard of 30,000 tonnes that is valid from September 3 to December 3, 2022, and Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed the corresponding resolution, the government's press service reported.

The Industry and Trade Ministry has been instructed to distribute volumes among exporters by August 31 in proportion to the volumes that they have exported during the past year. The ministry will issue the respective export licenses for compliance.

"The goal of the decision is to support the manufacturers of cardboard packaging that use waste paper as the main raw material for their respective products. Moreover, the quota should prevent a shortage in the raw materials on the domestic market," the Cabinet said in the press release.
