Uralhimmash completes delivery of liquefied gas storage reservoirs for Amur GCC

YEKATERINBURG. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Sverdlovsk region-based PJSC Uralhimmash has shipped 15 ball-type tanks to the Amur Gas Chemical Complex (GCC, a joint project of SIBUR and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec)), which is being built in the Amur Region, the press service of the Ural-based plant said in a statement.

The equipment is intended for storage of liquefied gases.

Within the framework of the contract with JSC NIPIGAZ, the components for the assembly of the tanks were produced at Uralhimmash using a unique method of cold spot deformation on a special hydraulic press. The volume of the tanks for storage of various liquefied gases is 600 cubic meters (6 units), 1,000 cubic meters (6 units) and 2,400 cubic meters (3 units).

The body of each tank consists of separate spherical "petal" elements and segments of lids. As such, the spherical tank with volume of 2,400 cubic meters will be assembled of 20 "petals" and 16 segments of two lids. Its height in its finished state will be 26 meters. It is specified that the element kits of the reservoirs will be delivered to the construction site by railway in a knocked-down format. They will be assembled on site by specialized organizations.

The Amur GCC is expected to become the world's largest complex for production of basic polymers, with output of 2.3 million tonnes of polyethylene and 400,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year. The construction will be synchronized with the Gazprom's Amur GPP, which will supply the feedstock for the plant, reaching full capacity.

Uralhimmash manufactures equipment for the petrochemical, oil and gas processing industries, nuclear and conventional power plants. In February 2022, the plant was taken over by the specially created UZKHM Management Company. Its strategic partner is Gazprombank.
