Tatneft secures license for creation of technical proving ground for tight reserves development in Tatarstan

MOSCOW. Aug 18 (Interfax) - Tatneft has obtained a license to develop technologies for prospecting and production of hard-to-recover oil reserves, according to the state register of subsoil areas and licenses.

The technological proving ground for the domestic development of extra-viscous oil production will be created at the Shegurchinskiy block in Tatarstan. Subsoil use rights have been granted through the end of 2049.

As was reported, technological proving grounds for tight reserves development as a new type of subsoil licensing were introduced in Russia in spring 2021. Technological proving grounds for tight reserves may be created at the Bazhenov, Abalak, Khadum, Domanik, and Achimov formations and extra-viscous oil reserves. Rosnedra chief Yevgeny Petrov said that there are plans to create ten technological proving grounds in all the key oil and gas basins of Russia by 2022.

It was also reported that such licenses have already been issued to Gazprom Neft (two in KMAD for Bazhenov), Rosneft (two in Samara Region for Domanik) and Stavropolneftegaz (three in Stavropol Territory for the Khadum formation).
