UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrives in Lviv

MOSCOW. Aug 17 (Interfax) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutrerres arrived in Lviv on Wednesday, Ukrainian media reported citing the UN secretary-general press service.

"Antonio Gutrerres arrived [in] Lviv where, tomorrow, he will meet [with] Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the press service said on social media.

Meanwhile, deputy spokesperson for the UN secretary-general Farhan Haq said at a press briefing on Wednesday that Guterres will try to facilitate a de-escalation in the situation in Ukraine during his visit to Lviv.

"The issues that have been of concern regarding Ukraine. He is dealing with [...] overall effort towards what he can do to lower the temperature as much as possible. Those will be part of his discussions" during his visit to Ukraine, Haq said.

Guterres will also discuss the operation of vessels departing Ukraine's Black Sea ports, food and grain exports, and the situation at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant.
