NEW YORK, UN. Aug 17 (Interfax) - A ship chartered by the UN World Food Program departed from the Ukrainian port of Yuzhny on Tuesday with 23,000 tonnes of wheat onboard and headed to Djibouti, the United Nations said in a report.

"The MV Brave Commander departed with 23,000 metric tonnes of wheat grain for WFP's response in the Horn of Africa, where the threat of famine is looming due to severe drought," the UN said, adding that the grain would be received by Ethiopia among others.

According to the marinetraffic.com website, MV Brave Commander is now traveling across the Black Sea.

The UN reported the approval of 36 voyages from Ukraine and back by the Joint Coordination Center on August 1-15. A total of 563,317 tonnes of grain and other kinds of food were transported to Turkey, Iran, Korea, China, and other countries.

Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and the United Nations signed two documents to open a grain corridor from three Ukrainian ports, namely, Odesa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny (Pivdennyi), on July 22.
