Belarusian universities to allow Russians to enroll with Unified State Exam certificates for all specialties

MINSK. Aug 16 (Interfax) - Belarusian universities are planning to enable Russian citizens to enroll for all specialties with the Unified State Exam certificates starting from the next admission campaign, head of the Main Department for Vocational Education of the Belarusian Education Ministry Sergei Kasperovich said.

"We are planning to make changes, and adjust approaches to admission, which will allow Russian citizens to enter for all specialties with Unified State Exam certificates. This will expand their opportunities for education and meet the demand for education in our country," the representative of the Belarusian Education Ministry said at a press conference in Minsk on Tuesday.

He noted that these opportunities are now limited to "three dozen specialties, demanded by the economy."

Kasperovich said that during the admission campaign to Belarusian universities in 2022, more than 100 Russian citizens were enrolled. This figure includes those who entered both based on the USE and Belarusian centralized testing. According to the head of the department of vocational education, it is "still a small number."

The representative of the Education Ministry noted that the figures are preliminary, and the final analysis will be presented in October. He added that Russian citizens also have the opportunity to "enroll in one of the courses later, as foreigners, for a fee."
