DDT leader Shevchuk fined 50,000 rubles for discrediting Russian Armed Forces

UFA. Aug 16 (Interfax) - The Sovetsky District Court in Ufa found DDT rock band leader Yury Shevchuk guilty of publicly discrediting the Russian Armed Forces, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courtroom on Tuesday.

Shevchuk "is found guilty of an administrative offense [...] and sentenced to an administrative fine of 50,000 rubles," the judge said.

Shevchuk's lawyer Alexander Peredchuk told reporters that the ruling would be appealed.

Shevchuk did not attend the hearing. He made a statement, saying he was quarantined after contact with a Covid-19 patient.

The Sovetsky District Court in Ufa started hearing the administrative case of Shevchuk on August 5 under Article 20.3.3 of the Russian Code of Administrative Offenses.

The motion was filed after a DDT performance in Ufa on May 18. The police said the administrative case resulted from "the provocative remarks made by the rock musician during the concert."
