Roscosmos plans to develop cooperation with countries of M. East, Asia, L. America - CEO

KUBINKA, Moscow region. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Countries of the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America are interested in space cooperation with Russia, Roscosmos CEO Yury Borisov said.

"This project [the launch of a satellite for Iran] enables us to expand cooperation in manufacturing space equipment and providing services for countries of the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America - in other words, for everyone who is interested in partnership relations with Russia," Borisov said at the opening ceremony of the Army 2022 forum.

"Space is a common environment for all of humankind, and its exploration should remain depoliticized. I am convinced of this," Borisov said.

On August 9, Roscosmos said that the Iranian Earth remote sensing satellite Khayyam was successfully placed into its designated orbit by the Russian Soyuz-2.1b launch vehicle, which lifted off from the Baikonur Cosmodrome.
