Zelensky proposes Rada extend martial law for another 90 days

MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday forwarded bills on enacting his decrees extending the effect of martial law in Ukraine and on conducting full mobilization.

The relevant bills have been registered under No. 7664 and 7665, although their texts are currently not available on the presidential website, Ukrainian media have reported.

Bill No. 7664 enacts presidential decree No. 573 dated August 12, which extends martial law in Ukraine for 90 days from 5:30 a.m. August 23, 2022.

Bill No. 7665 enacts presidential decree No. 574 dated August 12, which extends full mobilization for 90 days from August 23.

Zelensky had signed decree No. 64/2022 On the Imposition of Martial Law in Ukraine on February 24, and the parliament endorsed it the same day with 300 votes in favor. Zelensky later twice proposed bills extending martial law for 30-day periods, and the Verkhovna Rada supported them, as well.

Zelensky also signed decree No. 69/2022 On Full Mobilization on February 24, under which mobilization was conducted within 90 days after the decree's entry into effect.

On May 22, the Verkhovna Rada extended martial law and full mobilization for another 90 days until August 23, 2022.

Verkhovna Rada deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak said on Sunday that the parliamentary National Security, Defense, and Intelligence Committee approved bills on enacting the president's decrees.
