Russia registers 27,810 new cases of Covid-19, first time since March, 57 patients die in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 27,810 new cases of Covid-19 for the first time since March, or almost 2,000 more than on Thursday, in addition to 2,619 hospitalizations and 57 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

"As of August 12, Russia recorded 27,810 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,619 patients were hospitalized, up 3.7% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 41 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 39, and has remained unchanged in five, it said.

Fifty-seven patients died from Covid-19 over the past day, as against 52 the day before.

The daily morbidity has grown by 1,995 cases from 25,815 reported on Thursday. Russia has seen more than 27,000 infections for the first time since March 21.

"Another 14,320 patients have recovered over the day, up 0.7% from August 11," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,824,282 cases of Covid-19, including 383,011 deaths and 18,104,261 recoveries.
