Bulker to arrive in Pivdennyi port from Africa on Aug 12 to take aboard wheat - Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 12 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Infrastructure Ministry is expecting a bulker to arrive in the Pivdennyi port on August 12 to take aboard wheat for Africa, the Ukrainian media said on Thursday evening, citing the ministry's statement on a social network.

"MV Brave Commander, flying the flag of Liberia, is due to arrive in the Pivdennyi port to take aboard over 23,000 tonnes of wheat for dealing with the famine in Eastern Africa," the media said.

The ship, chartered under the UN World Food Program, will be traveling to Ethiopia via the Djibouti port.

Ukraine, Turkey and Russia signed an initiative for safe transportation of grain and food from the Ukrainian ports of Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi in Istanbul on July 22, 2022, under the UN aegis.

Consistent with this agreement, 12 ships loaded with 370,000 tonnes Ukrainian agricultural products are on their way to seven countries from Ukrainian ports.

The first ship loaded with Ukrainian corn has arrived in a Turkish port for unloading.
