Azerbaijan finalizes construction of Lachin bypass

BAKU. Aug 11 (Interfax) - A road bypassing Lachin is now ready, the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads said in a statement.

"The construction of a road bypassing the city of Lachin has been a key road infrastructure project of the Azerbaijani leadership in the Karabakh and East Zangezur economic regions. The construction project implemented by the State Agency of Azerbaijan Automobile Roads has been accomplished," the statement said.

According to the agency, the road belongs to the third technical category. The width of the road, which has three lanes on the slopes and two lanes on the rest of the surface, is 7-10.5 meters, the width of the subgrade is 12-15 meters, and the width of the shoulders is 2 per 2.5 (5 meters) meters.

The construction of the Lachin bypass began in July 2021. The road is 32 kilometers long, including ten kilometers that go through the Armenian territory.

As reported earlier, the construction of the Lachin bypass is stipulated by the trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 9-10, 2020.
