Ukrzaliznytsia grain exports up by 100,000 tonnes in July

MOSCOW. Aug 11 (Interfax) - JSC Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) exported 905,000 tonnes of grain in July 2022, which is nearly 100,000 tonnes more than in June of this year (804,900 tonnes).

Out of the overall amount of grain exported by Ukrzaliznytsia in July, 716,000 tonnes were transported via land border crossings on Ukraine's western border (76,000 tonnes more than in June), and 190,000 tonnes were delivered to ports (+25,000 tonnes).

In July, 1.2 million tonnes of grain were loaded into Ukrzaliznytsia train cars, accounting for 14% of the overall amount of 8.5 million tonnes loaded by Ukrzaliznytsia last month, Ukrainian media outlets quoted a company spokesperson as saying at an online meeting with representatives of the sector.

In all, 9.95 million tonnes of grain were sent abroad from January to July, a decrease of 17%, or by 2.08 million tonnes, as compared to the January-July period of 2021.

As of the end of July, 1,860 train cars on average were cleared to cross the border per day (-74 train cars as compared to the end of June).

A 28,700 train cars were waiting to be unloaded as of August 8 (-2,800 train cars as compared to the end of July), including 8,900 cars with grain (-1,100), 700 cars with vegetable oil (-100), and 860 cars with seed meal (+60), the Ukrzaliznytsia spokesperson said.
