Russia registers 23,771 new cases of Covid-19, first time since March, 56 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 10 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 23,771 new cases of Covid-19 for the first time since March, which is almost 7,500 cases more than the day before, while 2,666 patients have been hospitalized and 56 have died over the past day, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Wednesday.

"As of August 10, Russia recorded 23,771 new cases of Covid-19 and 2,666 patients were hospitalized, up 3.6% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 41 Russian constituent territories, has decreased in 38, and has remained unchanged in six, it said.

Fifty-six patients died from Covid-19 over the day, as against 60 the day before.

The daily morbidity has grown by 7,446 cases from 16,325 infections reported on Tuesday. Following two days of decline, the Covid-19 morbidity in Russia has topped 23,000 cases for the first time since March 27.

"Meanwhile, 14,552 patients have recovered over the day, up 11.2% from August 9," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has seen a total of 18,770,657 cases of Covid-19, including 382,902 deaths and 18,072,720 recoveries.
