Germany to change rules for Ukrainians' stay in country

MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax) - Germany's Federal Council has announced its decision to amend the rules regulating Ukrainian citizens' stay in Germany from September 1, 2022, the Ukrainian media said.

Under the government's decision, from September 1, Germany will start counting visa-free days from the day of entry to Germany. All days of stay starting February 24 will be counted. Ukrainian citizens who have been in Germany for more than 90 days will have to receive temporary protection status or leave the country for the subsequent 90-day period.

Meanwhile, Ukrainians who will arrive in Germany after September 1, 2022 will also be able to legally stay in German territory for 90 days without applying for temporary protection status.
