Ukrainian govt to submit Enerhoatom corporatization bill to Verkhovna Rada

MOSCOW. Aug 8 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian government has approved a bill on corporatization of the Enerhoatom nuclear energy state-run company.

Government representative to the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk said on social media that the decision was made at a government meeting on Friday.

"The bill prescribes defining the procedure for corporatization of NAEK Enerhoatom, in which government has 100% stake, as well as formation of the joint stock company's charter capital and its further operation," the Ukrainian media quoted him as saying.

Seeking to provide economic security and to protect interests of the state, the bill contains restrictions, such as preservation of corporate rights of the government, property of nuclear power plants, nuclear material and sites processing radioactive waste.

Enerhoatom operates all four functional nuclear power plants in Ukraine. It serves as the operator of 15 water-cooled water-moderated reactor units with the total rated capacity of 13.835 GW.
