Ukraine harvests 17.5 mln tonnes of grains, leguminous crops this season - Agrarian Policy Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Ukraine has harvested 11.8 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops to date (+5.7 million tonnes over the week from July 29 to August 5) on a total area of 4.8 million hectares (+1.3 million hectares), the Ukrainian media said with the reference to the website of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food on Friday.

The reports said that the crops had been harvested on 41% of the cropland.

As of now, 12.6 million tonnes of wheat (+4.6 million tonnes over the past week) have been threshed on 3.5 million hectares (+1.2 million hectares), as against 4.4 million tonnes of barley (+1.1 million tonnes) on 1.3 million hectares (+0.23 million hectares) and 226,000 million tonnes of peas (+33,000 tonnes) on 101,000 hectares (+4,500 hectares).

The Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Kirovohrad, Khmelnytsky and Cherkassy regions have threshed over 1 million tonnes of grain each, the ministry said. The entire pea harvest has been threshed in 11 regions, and farmers in the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions have harvested 99% of wheat.

As of August 5, Ukraine has harvested 2.5 million tonnes of winter rapeseed (+0.7 million tonnes over the past week) on 929,000 hectares (+227,000 hectares).

Ukraine had a record harvest of 106 million tonnes of grain, leguminous crops and oilseeds in 2021, including 84 million tonnes of grains and leguminous crops and 22.6 million tonnes of oilseeds.

It harvested 32.4 million tonnes of wheat, 40 million tonnes of corn, 10 million tonnes of barley, 581,500 tonnes of peas, 191,000 tonnes of millet, 110,000 tonnes of buckwheat, 16.3 million tonnes of sunflower seeds, 3.4 million tonnes of soybeans, and 2.9 million tonnes of rapeseed.
