Spanish govt assigns almost 53 mln euros for financial support to Ukrainian refugees - Verkhovna Rada deputy speaker

MOSCOW. Aug 4 (Interfax) - The Spanish government has approved the allotment of 52.8 million euros to autonomous organizations as direct financial assistance to Ukrainian refugees in Spain, Verkhovna Rada Deputy Speaker Olena Kondratyuk said.

"Every adult Ukrainian refugee is due to receive a direct monthly benefit of 400 euros, while minors are entitled to 100-euro benefits. The benefits will be paid for six months," the Ukrainian media quoted Kondratyuk as saying on social media on Thursday.

According to her, Spain has taken in over 137,000 Ukrainian citizens (which is the fourth largest number among EU member states).

Kondratyuk said she met with Spanish Minister of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration Jose Luis Escriva during a working visit to Spain to discuss the need for amendments to Spanish laws for a greater inclusiveness and resolution of pressing problems of the Ukrainian refugees.
