Ukrainian Justice Ministry receives equipment to develop IT infrastructure with UNDP support

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP), closely cooperating with the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry with support from the Swedish government, has provided new equipment and technical support to the Ukrainian Justice Ministry in developing its IT infrastructure and electronic registers.

Ukrainian media reported with reference to an UNDP statement on Wednesday that the Justice Ministry's active transition to paperless formats has been hindered by outdated IT infrastructure and a lack of modern computer equipment.

"Most workstations were equipped with aging desktop computers," the statement says.

"To help them overcome these challenges, UNDP, with funding from the Government of Sweden, provided new equipment and technical support," it says.

"Computer equipment purchases made with the help of our international partners will allow us to strengthen the ability of public bodies to transfer their work to electronic form, and improve internal working processes," the statement quoted Mstyslav Banik, head of electronic services development at the Ukrainian Digital Transformation Ministry, as saying.

"This will facilitate the work of employees and, as a result, simplify the life of Ukrainians, who will be able to receive the necessary services quickly and conveniently," he said.

All said purchases have been made within the Digital, Inclusive, Accessible: Support to Digitalization of Public Services in Ukraine Project (DIA Support project), implemented by UNDP in Ukraine with the financial support from Sweden, it said.

The project was launched in 2021 and is aimed at bridging "the digital divide between different generations and different social groups," its main goal being "to increase the accessibility of new digital solutions," the statement says.
