Russia registers 9,560 new cases of Covid-19, 48 deaths in past 24 hours - HQ

MOSCOW. Aug 2 (Interfax) - Russia has registered 9,560 new cases of Covid-19, or nearly 1,300 fewer than the day before, as well as 1,962 hospitalizations and 48 deaths in the past 24 hours, the coronavirus response headquarters said in a statement on Tuesday.

"As of August 2, Russia recorded 9,560 cases of Covid-19 and 1,962 patients were hospitalized, up 134.7% from the previous day," the headquarters said.

The number of hospitalizations has grown in 76 constituent territories, has decreased in seven, and has remained unchanged in two, it said. There were 836 patients hospitalized on Monday.

Forty-eight patients died from Covid-19 over the day, versus 36 the day before.

Daily morbidity has decreased by 1,264 cases from 10,824 infections reported on Monday. The morbidity has been on decline for two consecutive days.

"Meanwhile, 8,573 patients have recovered, up 41.1% from August 1," the headquarters said.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Russia has registered a total of 18,622,103 cases of Covid-19, including 382,517 deaths and 17,990,048 recoveries.
