Producer of Lipton tea leaving Russia, production to cease by end of 2022

ROTTERDAM. Aug 1 (Interfax) - International tea company Ekaterra is leaving Russia due to the current operational environment, Ekaterra said in a press release.

This means that Ekaterra intends to cease production of Lipton, Saito, and Brooke Bond brand tea in Russia by the end of 2022, and sales will end shortly after, the press release said.

Ekaterra is one of the largest global producers of tea. The company has 34 brands in its portfolio, including PG Tips, Pukka, T2, TAZO, and Lipton. Unilever, which owned Ekaterra, completed the sale of its tea business to CVC Capital Partners Fund VIII at the beginning of 2022 for 4.5 billion euros.
