Ukraine's agricultural exports up in July - UCAB

MOSCOW. Aug 1 (Interfax) - Ukraine exported three million tonnes of agricultural products in July 2022 bypassing its blocked seaports, which are Ukraine's key export infrastructure, a 12% rise as compared to the amount of its agricultural exports in June 2022, Ukrainian media outlets quoted the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB) as saying on social media on Monday.

As regards the structure of Ukraine's agricultural export in July, grain exports totaled 1.7 million tonnes (69% of corn, 22% of wheat, and 9% of barley), 21% up from these figures in June.

Ukraine exports 567,200 tonnes of oil-bearing crops (61% of sunflower seed, 19% of rapeseed, and 9% of soy beans) in July, which is 7% more than in June of this year. July's vegetable oil exports were the same as in June - 297,100 tonnes, of which sunflower seed oil accounted for 94% and soybean oil at 6%, the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club said.

The export of sunflower seed and soybean cake and residues stood at 185,900 tonnes (85% of sunflower seed cake and residues, and 15% of soybean cake and residues), a 34% increase as compared to these exports in June.

Thus, the previous month saw the biggest rise in grain exports, which grew by almost 300,000 tonnes over that period. The structure of grain exports changed partly as well, with the share of wheat and barley in it increasing as compared to previous periods due to the start of the harvesting campaign for these crops in Ukraine and the subsequent growth of supply.

"Though exports are showing positive dynamics, prices on the domestic grain market keep decreasing because of pressure from excessive supply both due to last year's harvest and the arrival of the new harvest amid the significantly slower pace of export growth," the UCAB said.

As reported, before February 24, 2022, Ukraine had exported 5 million-6 million tonnes of agricultural products per month via its key seaports in Odesa and Mykolaiv.
