One in three Ukrainians suffering from food shortages - UNWFP

MOSCOW. July 29 (Interfax) - One in three Ukrainians is suffering from food shortages one way or the other, Head of Communications at the UN World Food Program (WFP) in Ukraine Antoine Vallas said.

"The World Food Program remains very concerned by the deterioration of the humanitarian situation inside Ukraine. One in three Ukrainians is currently food insecure in the country. Our focus is on delivering assistance flexibly [...] to support the needs of different groups of people across the country," the Ukrainian media quoted Vallas as saying during a press briefing at the Ukraine Media Center in Kyiv on Friday.

The WFP has already supported more than two million Ukrainians with either food distributions or cash payments, he said. Specifically, since March the WFP has distributed several million dollars in cash.
