Int'l community criticizes new Afghan authorizes less, economic recovery emphasized - Uzbek acting FM

TASHKENT. July 29 (Interfax) - Peace in Afghanistan has remained a strategic condition of security in the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Uzbek Acting Foreign Minister Vladimir Norov said.

"The establishment of long-waited peace and stability in Afghanistan remains a strategic condition of security and stable development on the SCO territory," Norov said at a meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers in Tashkent on Friday.

The recent international conference on Afghanistan in Tashkent attended by high-ranking delegations, including from the SCO member states became the first forum in history at which specific proposal on taking Afghanistan out of crisis were made, he said.

"The international community lowered the degree of criticism of the country's new authorities, centering on assisting Afghanistan's economic recovery [...] Positive processes in Central Asia help turn the SCO space into an area of stability, development, prosperity, and effective cooperation," Norov said.
