Russia sees over 11,500 daily Covid-19 cases for first time since mid-April, 41 patients with coronavirus die - HQ
MOSCOW. July 28 (Interfax) - The number of daily cases of Covid-19 recorded in Russia over the past 24 hours has exceeded 11,500 for the first time since mid-April, surpassing the relevant figure seen on Wednesday by nearly 2,500, while over 1,500 people diagnosed with coronavirus have been hospitalized and 41 have died, the coronavirus operative response headquarters said in a statement on Thursday.
"As of July 28, Russia has identified 11,515 new cases of Covid-19. The number of daily hospitalizations amounted to 1,491, having declined by 8.4% compared to the previous day," it said.
The number of related hospitalizations grew in 31, decreased in 40, and remained the same in 14 constituent territories of Russia, it said.
Forty-one patients with coronavirus have died over the past 24 hours. On Wednesday, the headquarters reported 36 related deaths.
Compared to the previous day, when Russia saw 9,027 cases of Covid-19, the number of new infections has increased by 2,488. Daily cases have exceeded 11,500 nationwide for the first time since mid-April. This indicator has been growing for the second day in a row.
"As many as 5,018 people have recovered over the past 24 hours, or 1.9% fewer than on July 27," it said.
Russia has recorded a total of 18,565,551 cases of Covid-19, 382,313 related deaths, and 17,958,463 recoveries during the period of the pandemic.
